How to delete your Ahrefs account

Close the Ahrefs account you no longer use in three steps. We checked each one against Ahrefs's own help page, so you don't have to dig through it.

Before you start

  • Pay any outstanding bills first. Ahrefs says accounts with unpaid balances cannot be deleted.
  • Export rank histories, keyword lists, backlink data and Site Audit results you need. Full exports depend on a paid plan, so export before cancelling.
  • Use the email address registered to your Ahrefs account when you contact support.

Steps

  1. If you have a paid plan, open Account Settings → Billing and cancel the subscription.
  2. Email support@ahrefs.com from your registered address, or use the live chat in the bottom-right corner of Ahrefs, and ask to permanently delete your account and its data.
  3. Wait for Ahrefs to confirm the deletion by email. If no confirmation arrives, follow up with support.

What happens after

  • Cancelling alone does not delete anything. Paid features last until the end of the billing cycle, then the account drops to Ahrefs Free and keeps your data.
  • Ahrefs describes deletion as permanent and covering the account and its associated data. Export first.
  • A request is not proof of deletion; keep Ahrefs’ confirmation email.

Can't sign in?

Contact Ahrefs's support from the email address on the account and ask for it to be closed. Expect them to check that the account is yours first.
